Welcome

A period of in depth research and development into the fascinating possibilities of interfacing, net-working led to the designing and manufacturing of innovative solutions that are already installed to hundreds of sea-going vessels and major shipyards.
The scope of this page is to offer NMEA communication interfacing tools, knowledge and solutions to marine engineers.
Some tools can be very usefull to software developers or anyone interested to interface marine equipment.  Working for years in the marine field i know that interfacing can be fun but sometimes without the right tools is realy hard.

NM-251 Series (ABS approved)

The NM-251 Series is a family of Data  Converters that can be used for data
distribution and conversion at marine and  industrial applications. Due to the
fact that NM-251 Series is a microcontroller  based design, it can function in
various ways depending on the uploaded  firmware. NM-251 Series Converter can be
programmed to carry out new functions.

It enables combining and multiplying of all NM-0183 sources to the navigational
instruments through five talker ports and PC connection through RS-232, USB and an optional Ethernet interface.

Pytheas Navigation Conning Software

a software application designed to present vessel’s navigation and operational status with utmost clarity. Instant comprehension, evaluation and awareness of the vessel’s operational conditions by the OOW is achieved by displaying only the items which are relevant at the specific time Instant comprehension, evaluation and awareness of the vessel’s operational conditions by the OOW is achieved by displaying only the items which are relevant at the specific time Installer-friendliness has been also achieved by incorporating unique hardware interfacing complex along with an easy graphical installer interface.

The NM-DIS belongs to discrete series to NMEA-0183 converter. It enables connection between systems that output their status using dry contact (e.g. output relays) and AC or DC signal interfaces

NMEA Interfacing (Custom Series)

Model: NM-422ETH
NMEA to Ethernet
The NM-422ETH is a two channel NMEA-0183 input and four channels NMEA-0183 output multiplier. It enables data distribution from two NM-0183 sources (primary and secondary with priority encoding) to all NMEA-0183 instruments through four talker ports and direct PC connection through RS-232. In addition the Ethernet interface enables connection of the NM-422ETH in a local TCP/IP network topology.

Model: NM-251B
Speed Log Interface
NM-251B is a Speed Log ppm output to NMEA-0183 converter that enables connection of every speed log that uses the “closing” contact interface with digital systems and instruments that comply with the NMEA-0183 standards. The NM-251B is capable of converting the speed log contact closures to a standard NMEA $VWVHW string with checksum error control and output at TTL, RS-422 and RS-232 signal levels.

Model: NM-AD10
NMEA to Furuno AD-10 protocol
The NM-AD10PC is an NMEA-0183 to Furuno AD-10 protocol converter.
The NM-AD10PC can be used to interface any gyrocompass or heading sensor device capable of producing NMEA-0183 sentences with all the Furuno instruments that require AD-10 signals as input to acquire the heading information.

Model: NM-251BRC
NMEA Baud Rate converter
NM-251BRC is a baud rate converter that allows interconnection of talkers and listeners with different baud rates
NM-251BRC has five general purpose output ports that are able of transmitting NMEA sentences in both RS422 and TTL signal levels, depending on the connection topology and each one can fan out one instrument.
